With the Target Center Renovation in full swing, we decided to revisit past events at the Target Center.

Today, we begin our journey going back to Sept. 10, 1995 when Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers hosted a concert at the building. In 1995, the band released a six-CD box-set titled Playback. It was a mix of old and new hits.

At the time of the concert, Petty was 45 years old.

What else was going on in ’95?

President: Bill Clinton

Here we are, 21 years later, and Hillary Clinton is now running for the same position.

Senators of Minnesota: Rod Grams and the late Paul Wellstone

Top Song: “Gangsta’s Paradise” by Coolio

Ah, Coolio.

Top Movie: “The Usual Suspects”

The movie featured Kevin Spacey.

The description: “A sole survivor tells of the twisty events leading up to a horrific gun battle on a boat, which begin when five criminals meet at a seemingly random police lineup.”

Leading Scorer for the Wolves: During the 1994-95 season, Isaiah Rider led the team with 20.4 points per game. This was the season before the team drafted that Kevin Garnett guy.

Born on this Day: Shak Ghacha, who plays a recurring role on “Touch,” a show that airs on FOX. He’s 20. It’s okay to feel old.

Check back in next week for another trip down memory lane.
